After earning a degree in Modern Literature from the Université de Nantes, Astrid Guinet discovered animated filmmaking at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris (EnsAD), which led to a six-month exchange at Tokyo University of the Arts (Geidai). She graduated in 2019 with the short film La tempête, then took part in the “En sortant de l’école” program, directing the short film Mon rêve familier in 2020.
Her first professional short film project, Les beaux jours, produced by Xbo Films, explores romantic daydreams and middling astrology. It has been supported by several writing and creative residencies: the Open Workshop (Denmark), La Maison des auteurs in Angoulême (France), the Meknès writing residency (Morocco), and the Saint-Quirin image and writing residency (France).
